I have been blessed to be in many of my friends weddings. However, this one was a little different. We met at the end of our sophomore year of college when Hayley, Holly and one of our mutual friends wanted to go to Krispy Kreme and were asking me for directions. Like I would let them go without me?!? This became the beginning of a beautiful friendship. We come from very similar backgrounds and our love for Carolina basketball unites us!
I was able to fly into town on Tuesday so I could spend some time with the bride and her family starting on Wednesday when I made the drive from Zebulon to Lincolnton. It was a beautiful drive, beautiful fields of wheat, carolina blue skies, and wild-flowers in bloom. It definitely made me doubt that I am supposed to be in Houston right now. Hayley and Charlie thought it was funny that I kept commenting on how beautiful it is there because they see it everyday but little do they know that living in a big city is quite different. (I think it is safe to say they understand more after being in Dallas, TX this weekend) But back to the wedding...
I stayed with Hayley and Charlie and their 7 month old Savannah. We had such a great time. Savannah is the happiest baby and is a joy to be around. What a blessing she is and that whole family is to me!
We had to go and get my dress altered, because let's be honest bridesmaids dresses never fit me right. So we tried two places and they didn't work out so then we heard of another lady from one of their friends. So after dinner Hayley and I went to get my dress altered. As I am standing there and the lady is pinning my dress I lookover and notice, I know this girl in their pictures. Come to find out I led their daughter in her freshman biblestudy in HJ my senior year. What a small world?
After that we got to learn the dance Holly wanted us to learn to "Music makes you lose control" for the reception. Which is funny because none of us are really dancers. By the end of it I realized I would have to do this dance with a crazy look on my face so people would not know that I am serious :) You all know what I am talking about.
Thursday night the girls helped me make an appointment to get my hair fixed. I had gotten an awful haircut before I left Houston. You have no idea... So I got it fixed, picked up my dress, and went to help Holly... I did lots of little stuff from wrapping gifts to separating rose petals to folding programs, which per Holly, Alisa and I did carelessly. Ha ha They were straight though, I promise.
Friday, we slept in, ran some errands and then went to get our nails done. Hayley, Alisa, and I got there before Holly and picked out our color. We all decided on the same one it was a coral color. Holly came in and asked us what color we picked. We told her and I quote... "Ya'll know that orange doesn't match blue right?" Conversation ensued and we still kept our same color. That night we had the rehearsal dinner, after the dinner we practiced the dance in the church foyer, might I add. What a laugh that was... After that we went to help at the reception venue while Holly packed for her honeymoon. That was an adventure in and of itself.
Saturday, May 8th... Wedding day. We got our hair fixed, had lunch at homeplace and then went to the church. Hayley and I were relaxed and ready to go. I'm just gonna say that my favorite quote of the day was... "Emm I should keep my questions for you to Carolina Basketball and Exercise" -Holly
The wedding was beautiful, and the reception was a blast. Thanks Holly and Matt for including me in your special day! Praying that you will love the Lord most, Love each other well, serve each other well, and serve alongside each other well. Love you both!
Yay Em for a blog! :) Miss you friend.
